Delta Govt applauds Tantita Security for safeguarding oil assets, boosting Nigeria’s economy

The Delta State Government has lauded Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its outstanding role in protecting oil installations and stabilizing Nigeria’s economy through improved crude production.

Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, gave the commendation during an interview on Sunday, describing Tantita as a “model of corporate citizenship” whose operations have restored confidence in the nation’s oil sector.

Aniagwu dismissed comparisons between Tantita’s work in the Niger Delta and incidents of banditry in other parts of the country, emphasizing that the company’s security interventions have yielded measurable national benefits.

According to him, Nigeria’s oil production has risen from about 1.1 million barrels per day to 1.7 million, largely due to Tantita’s efforts in curbing crude theft and securing vital infrastructure across oil-producing areas.

“Delta being the number one oil-producing state in Nigeria is benefitting through derivation, even though we still believe that 13 percent is less than what we expect,” Aniagwu said. “But beyond Delta, the federal government and the entire federation are also reaping from Tantita’s security efforts because improved production translates to greater national revenue.”

He noted that Tantita’s operations have complemented the Oborevwori administration’s security and economic objectives, enabling Delta to channel more resources into infrastructure, welfare, and job creation.

“In the last two years, we have spent over ₦1.3 trillion on capital projects from roads, bridges, and flyovers that are on the ground, not in the air,” Aniagwu stated. “We are also prompt in salary payments and have introduced humanitarian interventions to support widows and the vulnerable through various empowerment and job creation schemes.”

Aniagwu maintained that the state’s fiscal prudence, supported by increased oil revenue from secured production, has strengthened Delta’s stability, especially in the education and welfare sectors.

He reaffirmed that Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda which provides meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security will continue to align with Tantita’s drive for a safer and more productive Niger Delta, ensuring sustainable growth for both the state and the nation.
