Lagos police tactical team smashes cult, robbery syndicate in Ikorodu
A covert police operation in Ikorodu has exposed what appears to be a tightening web of cult and robbery activities threatening the fragile peace of Lagos’ outskirts.
The Lagos State Police Command, acting on intelligence reports of an imminent criminal attack, arrested eight suspects believed to be members of the Eiye Confraternity and a coordinated armed robbery gang during a midnight raid in the Odogunyan area of Ikorodu.
The operation, carried out on October 15, 2025, was led by the Bullock Tactical Team, a specialized arm of the Command known for handling high-risk interventions. According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the team had trailed the suspects for weeks following reports of renewed cult clashes and robberies around Odogunyan and its adjoining communities.
Adebisi said the Command remains resolute in its determination to rid Lagos of all criminal elements, adding that the raid was part of an ongoing crackdown on cultism and violent crime across the state.
The suspects Fadiya Ayodele (27), Lawal Rasheed (28), Akerele Demilare (27), Alimi Victor (23), Okiki Alufoge (25), Nurudeen Dolapo (25), Agboola Samuel (25), and Ayolade Victor (25) were reportedly rounded up at different points during the sting operation.
Investigators recovered a Nigerian military camouflage uniform, a battle axe, an assault dagger, several charms, and counterfeit U.S. $100 bills totaling $3,000. The discovery has raised suspicions of the group’s possible link to a larger criminal network that may include arms trafficking and financial fraud.
Sources within the Command hinted that the suspects had been under discreet surveillance before the raid, after intelligence reports suggested they were planning a retaliatory cult attack following a rival group’s recent incursion in Ikorodu.
During preliminary interrogation, Fadiya Ayodele, who identified himself as the leader of the Eiye Confraternity in the area, disclosed that he had handed a locally made pistol to one Adewunmi Annadex, a known associate currently on the run. Police sources said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fugitive and recover the firearm.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their professionalism, courage, and precision. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to dismantling all criminal cells operating in Lagos and assured residents that the police under his watch will continue to make the state safe and secure for everyone.
The recovered items including camouflage clothing, weapons, charms, and fake foreign currency have been entered into evidence as part of the ongoing probe into what investigators believe may be a multi-layered criminal ring operating beyond Ikorodu.
