BREAKING: Tompolo pledges support for peace, development as he launches Delta State Security Trust Fund
High Chief (Dr.) Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on Wednesday reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to peace, collaboration, and sustainable development in Delta State as he officially launched the Delta State Security Trust Fund in Asaba.
In a speech at the ceremony held at the Government House, where he served as Chief Launcher, Tompolo described the initiative as more than a government project, calling it “a strategic investment in peace, progress, and the protection of lives and property.”
He emphasized that security remains the cornerstone of sustainable development, noting that no community, investor, or government can thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity. “What we are launching today goes beyond financial contribution but is a collective investment in the safety and stability of our people,” he stated.
Tompolo commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Security Council for their visionary approach to institutionalizing a framework that encourages public–private partnership in tackling insecurity. He described the move as “the kind of proactive governance that transforms societies and strengthens public confidence in leadership.”
Drawing from his extensive experience in peace and security operations across the Niger Delta, Tompolo highlighted that securing communities requires both resources and collaboration. He urged citizens, business leaders, and community organizations to contribute sincerely and actively to the success of the fund, describing security as a shared responsibility that demands unity and commitment.
“As citizens and stakeholders, it is our collective responsibility to support this fund with sincerity and commitment,” he said. “On my part, I make my contribution today not just in naira value, but as a pledge of continued partnership and active collaboration towards a safer Delta.”
The Gbaramatu born leader’s presence at the event, his first major public appearance in more than a decade drew wide attention and admiration from dignitaries, traditional rulers, and business leaders. His remarks resonated with the audience, reinforcing his image as a stabilizing force and dependable ally in the pursuit of peace and development.
Tompolo expressed optimism that with unity of purpose, Delta State can build a society where people live without fear, where children can dream freely, and where development flourishes without hindrance. He urged all stakeholders to sustain their commitment to building a secure and prosperous future for the state.
The launch of the Delta State Security Trust Fund marked not just the beginning of a new phase in the state’s security architecture, but also the strengthening of a vision Tompolo has consistently championed a Delta anchored on peace, partnership, and progress.
