A prominent Urhobo leader and member of the Uherevie Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) Board of Trustees, OML 30, Chief Ese Emuedo, has called on the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to strengthen their partnership with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited by providing increased logistics and operational support for the protection of oil and gas facilities across the Niger Delta.

Emuedo, an opinion leader from Afiesere Community in the Afiesere Oilfield area of OML 30, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, made the appeal on Monday while commending Tantita's role in safeguarding critical national assets and combating crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the region.

According to him, Tantita has continued to demonstrate remarkable commitment and effectiveness in securing oil installations, describing the company's operations as a significant contribution to the stability of Nigeria's oil and gas sector. He noted that the firm's activities have helped curb crude oil theft, illegal bunkering and attacks on petroleum infrastructure, thereby supporting the Federal Government's drive to boost crude oil production and national revenue.

“Tantita is doing a good job in protecting our oil facilities. Their efforts have brought noticeable improvements in the fight against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in our communities,” Emuedo stated.

The community leader also lauded the company's contribution to the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta, particularly through job creation for youths. According to him, Tantita's engagement of local youths has provided sustainable livelihoods and helped reduce restiveness in several communities, especially within the Urhobo axis where many oil-producing facilities are located.

Emuedo urged the Federal Government and NNPCL to continue encouraging and equipping the security outfit with the resources needed to sustain and expand its operations. He stressed that enhanced logistics and operational assistance would further improve the company's capacity to protect oil assets and contribute to national economic growth.

He further emphasised that securing critical oil infrastructure requires strong collaboration among government agencies, host communities and security partners. According to him, Tantita's achievements underscore the importance of involving credible local stakeholders in the protection of national resources. He therefore called on relevant authorities to recognise and strengthen initiatives that promote peace, security and development in oil-producing communities.
