Warri National Congress endorses INEC’s executive on supreme court judgment
The President of the Warri National Congress, Prince Collins Eselemor, has Monday declared the group’s “100% support” for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over its handling of a recent Supreme Court judgment affecting Warri.
Speaking at a Joint World Press/Peace Conference involving Ijaw, Itsekiri, and Urhobo stakeholders on Monday, Prince Eselemor said INEC had the “moral judgment and moral duty” to execute the court’s decision.
“We are axiomatically in support of it with all our hearts,” he said. “INEC has done the right thing. It would undermine our jurisprudence to deny that fact or allow social vices by going against a Supreme Court judgment after execution.”
The group acknowledged the presence of three Ijaw wards in Warri South, stressing that the people have long existed there as part of the city’s fabric.
They added that the decision would not jeopardize the relative peace in Warri, and warned politicians he named as “Ayiris” against attempts to sow confusion.
Delivering his closing message, Prince Eselemor said the only thing Wafarians should fear is fear itself.
“What Wafarians should fear now is fear itself. Let me use Pidgin: Wetin Warri people suppose fear, make Warri fear fear,” he stated.
Speaking further, the group said “No royal father, no individual from the Itsekiri, Ijaw, or Urhobo tribes can stop us from achieving peace. We are united. That fear is not coming.”
The conference brought together representatives of the three ethnic groups to address issues of unity and implementation of the Supreme Court judgment in Warri.
