The Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has signaled its readiness to collaborate with security agencies to advance youth reorientation, promote good governance, and strengthen effective public communication across the state.

This commitment was underscored during a courtesy visit by the leadership of NIPR Delta to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Delta State Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, at his office in Asaba on February 10, 2026.

The visit forms part of the Chapter’s ongoing stakeholder engagement drive aimed at deepening institutional partnerships and reinforcing the role of professional communication in building public trust, civic responsibility, and social stability in Delta State.

Speaking during the engagement, the Chairman of NIPR Delta, Godfrey C. Osakwe, fnipr, said the delegation visited the Command to formally welcome the Deputy Commissioner to the state and brief him on the Institute’s programmes and activities. He described the meeting as significant, noting Adejobi’s professional background and alignment with the Institute’s objectives.

Osakwe stated that the Institute is seeking sustained collaboration with the police command in areas such as ethical communication, advocacy for good governance, and community development. He stressed that effective communication remains critical in shaping public perception, addressing societal challenges, and supporting security agencies in building public confidence and cooperation.

In his response, DCP Adejobi highlighted pressing social challenges confronting youths in the state, including drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime, prostitution, and other related vices, which he said pose serious threats to peace, security, and sustainable development.

He observed that the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations could play a strategic role in tackling these issues through advocacy, public sensitisation, and communication-driven initiatives capable of influencing positive behavioural change and reshaping public attitudes.

Adejobi also expressed willingness to collaborate with the Institute in strategic management and communication training to enhance effective policing and law enforcement in line with international best practices in Delta State and nationwide. He noted that such synergy would help bridge the gap between the police and the public while strengthening institutional communication frameworks for improved service delivery.

Members of the NIPR delegation included Vice Chairman Florence Nwabuonwu; Public Relations Officer and Director General of Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Olorogun (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP; Treasurer Judith Kuejubola; Ex-Officio Member Joy Ochei; Abel John Gold; and media entrepreneur Sylvester Asoya.

The NIPR Delta State Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to sustained stakeholder engagement in promoting responsible communication, youth development, and a safer, more informed society.
