Residents and some students had on Monday staged a peaceful protest against the insecurity as it has to do with kidnappings in the town.

This is contained in a statement by Agberen and sent to Our Correspondent in Warri.

He claimed that in video footage, the police allegedly had a "forceful entry into students hostels at ungodly hours, damaging their doors and utilizing teargas against them."

According to Agberen, "HE Sen Monday Okpebholo, release the students of Ambrose Alli University unconditionally. Even kidnappers in their safe havens within Edo State do not receive this unjust treatment meted out to these students for protesting against insecurity in your State."

Agberen also said, "Today, the authorities of the student union have been undermined as various state governments and the federal government assert control over the leadership, with the perception that no consequences will follow."

He warned that, "This should serve as an eye-opener to Nigerian students. Nevertheless."
