A newly completed and fully equipped Cottage Hospital in Iteregbi, Uvwie Local Government Area, is now set to boost access to healthcare services in the region which is a development Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has praised as a strong example of effective local governance.

Commissioned by the Uvwie Local Government Council under the leadership of Chairman Hon. Anthony Ofoni, the facility stands as a response to community needs and a testament to the council’s prioritization of health infrastructure.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme described the hospital as a clear demonstration of what determined, people-focused leadership can accomplish. “This facility showcases the power of local governance. When leadership listens and responds to the people, extraordinary results follow,” he said.

Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare across Delta State a key priority under his M.O.R.E Agenda. He also encouraged the local community to take ownership of the new hospital, safeguarding its personnel, equipment, and mission.

The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe I, hailed the new hospital as “a new chapter of health and well-being for the community,” made possible through collaboration between government and the people.

Hon. Anthony Ofoni emphasized that the hospital will offer essential services including maternal and childcare, emergency stabilization, basic surgery, and general outpatient care helping to decongest tertiary health facilities and improve outcomes at the grassroots level.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for his role in advancing development in Uvwie, calling the hospital project “a critical achievement” that reflects the goals of the M.O.R.E Agenda for Meaningful Development.
