Wike appoints FCTA Head Of Service
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the appointment of Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan as the Acting Head of Service of the Federal office Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) following the death of Mrs. Grace Adayilo last week.
The announcement was contained in a statement on Tuesday signed by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister. The statement confirmed that Nathan’s appointment “takes immediate effect” and will remain in an acting capacity until a substantive Head of Service is named.
Nathan’s elevation comes at a sensitive moment for the FCTA, which is still reeling from the sudden loss of Adayilo. Her new role places her at the center of Abuja’s administrative machinery, responsible for ensuring continuity in civil service management and coordination across the capital.
Until now, Nathan served as the Permanent Secretary in charge of the Youth Development Secretariat. She also has a track record within the FCTA, having worked as Director of Finance and Administration in the Office of the Minister before her posting as Permanent Secretary.
Observers note that her appointment signals the minister’s intent to stabilize the administration quickly. However, it also raises questions about the process of succession in the FCTA and whether the acting appointment will eventually translate into a substantive role.
For now, Nathan carries the weight of ensuring the FCTA remains steady in a period of transition, with stakeholders watching closely to see how she manages one of the most critical offices in Abuja’s governance structure.
