Delta: Stop creating artificial scarcity, hoarding products,Right activist warn Petroleum markets, traders
A human right activist, Comrade (Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen today warned Petroleum Marketers and traders to stop creating artificial scarcity by hoarding products to force price hikes, where you allegedly exploit the people by inflating fuel prices, increasing their economic hardship as well as demanding from motorists' uncontrollable inflated prices.
Comrade Agberen handed the warning in a statement sent to Our Correspondent in Warri.
He said,' Apart from regulating and monitoring petroleum activities, the purpose of any union is to solely represent the people, not make situations unbearable for them."
It would be recalled that there long cues have resurfaced in petrol stations across the State following a disagreement between the Petroleum Marketers through their unions and Dangote Group which started yesterday.
They allegedly hoarded petrol products ceasing sales until approximately 6pm-8pm before products were sold to customers.
Comrade Agberen said,"Within a few hours, it was observed that fuel stations were selling their products only to suspected customers who sell black market petrol products along the road.
According to him,'Motorists and other vehicle users were compelled to buy only from the black market dealers at a price of ₦2,000 per litre, while some fuel stations adjusted their pump prices to ₦1,500 per litre later in the evening. Is this not crazý?
"Unionism has become a significant challenge to address, as it also contributes to Nigeria's problems.
"Imagine the illegalitý within the brief period of the day, possibly with intentions to perpetuate this anomaly to today and subsequently."
Comrade Agberen noted that increased depot from suppliers like Dangote may affect PMS pump prices nationwide.
