Mob catches, beat 28yr old suspected thief burgling shop on Sunday

Angry mob on Sunday caught and beat to stupor a twenty eight year old suspected thief allegedly burgling a shop along airport road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. A passerby who caught the suspect burgling the shop of a woman, raised alarm which attracted the security men in a popular hotel.He(suspect) was given a hot chase and apprehended by the mob. He was seriously beaten after he had stolen some female slippers from the burgled shop. In a chat with Our Correspondent who was at the scene of incident, the suspect who claimed to be an indigene of Kwale Community in Delta State but resident at Mechanic Village, Army Barracks in Effurun denied the allegations saying,"I no break the shop. I no thief. Na lie. I no thief. I just dey pass." When asked what he was doing at the shop and who burgled same, he kept mute as he pretended to be in pains. The suspect who gave his name as Nnamdi was beaten so severely that the suspect sustained grievous injuries before he was set free.
