Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited in partnership with Manroy Global Services has commenced a three-day free medical outreach targeting 2,500 residents of Ogulagha Kingdom and environs.
The outreach, which kicked off on Monday, October 19th and will run till October 21st, is holding at the Solagha Jamb CBT Centre, Ogulagha in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.
Services being rendered include general health consultation, malaria testing and treatment, blood pressure checks with free BP medications, blood sugar testing, dental checks and eye checks with free reading glasses. Cases requiring further attention will be referred for assistance by the companies.
Declaring the exercise open on day one, the Community Relations Manager of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Mr. Akposafagha Seimode, said the program is part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to its host communities.
"Tantita is saddled with the responsibility to protect oil and gas assets in the Niger Delta. As part of our CSR, we are giving back to our host communities. Ogulagha is one of our major hosts and they have stood with us in the fight against illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalism," he said.
He explained that beneficiaries are drawn not only from Ogulagha, the headquarters of Ogulagha Kingdom, but also from sister communities including Ekantu, Youbebe, Obotobo I, Obotobo II, Sokebolou and others.
"This is a three-day exercise. Today is day one. Our targeted number is 2,500 people," Seimode said, adding that the outreach will be extended to other host communities after Ogulagha.
Also speaking, Baba Ismaila, who represented the Managing Director of Manroy Global Services, Mr. Kalu Idika Okorie, said the initiative is driven by the belief that a healthy community is a wealthy community.
"We partner with Tantita in pipeline surveillance and we are giving back to communities what we derive. When you have a healthy community, you have a wealthy community. Health is wealth," he said.
He described Ogulagha as a pilot phase, noting that the companies plan to gradually extend the program across the Niger Delta towards a sickness-free region. He listed the services to include optical care, malaria treatment, sugar and BP checks, and counseling on diet and exercise.
Other members of the team that were on ground include Princess Daisy Jaja, Administrative Manager, Tantita; Engr. Trevor Chuks, Head of Procurement, Tantita; Mr. Collins Okorie, representing the MD, Manroy Global Services, Chief Akemu Eyimofe, Head of Operations, Manroy Global Services; and Dr. Roland Oyeghe, Head of the Medical Team.
In his reaction, the Executive Chairman of Ogulagha Community, Comrade Bright B. Eguo, commended the organizers for bringing healthcare to the doorstep of the people.
He said many residents could not afford transportation to urban hospitals and medical bills, and described the outreach as massive and timely.
"I am also a beneficiary. I had issues with my eyes and I was tested and given glasses and drugs. On behalf of Ogulagha community, I want to appreciate Tantita and Manroy, especially High Chief Government Ekpemupolo and the management," he said.
Some beneficiaries, including Mrs. Emomotimi Ogene, expressed joy over the prompt attention and free drugs received, describing the experience as awesome.
