NANS Plans Nationwide Action Against South African Firms in Nigeria

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced plans for a nationwide protest against South African-linked businesses operating in Nigeria, citing what he described as the continued mistreatment of Nigeria and its citizens by South Africa.

Speaking on the planned action, the NANS President said the association would mobilise students across the country to stage demonstrations against major South African-owned companies, including MTN and MultiChoice, while also urging Nigerians to close their accounts with Stanbic IBTC Bank.

“We are going to shut down MTN and MultiChoice. We will force Nigerians to close their accounts with Stanbic IBTC Bank,” the NANS President said.

According to him, the planned protest is intended to mount pressure on South African-affiliated companies operating in Nigeria and draw attention to concerns over the treatment of Nigerians living and doing business in South Africa.

He called on students and members of the public to support the planned demonstration, describing it as a necessary response to what he considers unfair treatment of Nigerians.

Further details, including the date and modalities for the proposed nationwide protest, are expected as the association finalises its plans.
