INC Election: Time to unite the Ijaw nation is now
Hon. Donald Kimikanboh Ojogo, member representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called for immediate unity in the Ijaw Nation following the election of High Chief MacDonald Igbadiwei as National President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).
In a congratulatory message on Sunday, Ojogo said the conclusion of the INC election signalled that “the time for unity of purpose in the Ijaw Nation cannot be delayed.”
“I warmly congratulate MacDo on this victory, which is the product of resilience. It did not come without challenges. Like every contest, it passed through the furnace of public scrutiny and intense competition, all wrapped in our collective desire for a virile, purposeful, and united Ijaw Nation,” he said.
Ojogo commended all contestants, describing them as “eminently qualified and capable,” adding that their participation affirmed their leadership credentials. “In truth, they all won for Ijawland,” he stated.
The federal lawmaker urged Igbadiwei to prioritize reconciliation and healing across the Ijaw Nation. “While we savour the moment, we must now embrace one another as brothers, regardless of what transpired before the election. I urge my elder brother and friend, upon whose shoulders the mantle of leadership now rests, to heal every fractured part of our many paths in the Ijaw Nation,” Ojogo said.
He expressed confidence in Igbadiwei’s capacity to lead, noting that the new INC President possesses “the God-given experience and wisdom to sustain our pride as a people.”
“Congratulations once again to our newly elected INC President. God bless the Ijaw Nation,” Ojogo concluded.
