Riverine Infrastructure Development: Clark praises Oborevwori for people-focused projects

Delta State Commissioner in charge of the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructure, Ebikeme Clark, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as a strong commitment to expanding infrastructure in the state’s riverine communities.

In a statement issued on Monday, Clark applauded the governor following approvals granted by the Delta State Executive Council for the execution of several major road projects across coastal areas of the state.

He said the approvals reflect the administration’s resolve to open up riverine communities and stimulate economic activities through improved connectivity.

According to the commissioner, the projects estimated to cost more than ₦80 billion are expected to boost access to remote settlements, strengthen socio-economic activities and contribute significantly to the development of rural economies.

Clark explained that among the approved projects are the Macaulay/Mitubiri Roads in Bomadi, Bomadi Local Government Area, as well as 2.45 kilometres of internal roads in Odimodi Community in Burutu Local Government Area and 3.75 kilometres of internal roads in Ogulagha Community, also in Burutu.

Other projects listed include internal roads in Patani, the 9.463-kilometre Torugbene–Ojobo Road with a spur to Ojobo Town in Burutu Local Government Area (Section Two) and the boundary road linking Ogbinbri and Ogbudugbudu communities in Egbema Kingdom, Warri North Local Government Area.

He further mentioned the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of Oporoza township roads in Warri South-West, the construction of Ogbe-Ijoh Palace Road with a spur to the proposed King’s Jetty, internal roads in Isaba, the Deghele–Bateren Road in Warri South-West, and the Old Koko Road project from Koko Garage to the Lagos Expressway, Phase I, in Warri North.

Describing the projects as “life-changing interventions,” Clark said they would improve mobility, reduce transportation challenges and stimulate commercial activities within the affected riverine communities.

He assured residents that the Oborevwori administration remains focused on ensuring balanced development across the state, particularly in coastal communities that have historically lacked critical infrastructure, while urging residents to support government initiatives and cooperate with contractors to ensure timely delivery of the projects
