I didn’t forge documents, falsify my age to become PG – Okiemute
Embattled President-General (PG) of Okpare-Olomu Community, Mr. Maxwell Otoka Okiemute, has denied allegations circulating on social media that he forged documents and falsified his age to emerge as the community’s President-General.
Okiemute made the clarification in a response to WhatsApp messages sent to him by our correspondent in Warri following reports about a court judgment against him.
He explained that the Delta State High Court only restrained him from parading himself as President-General of the community and ordered the conduct of a fresh election into leadership positions within the next two months.
According to him, the ruling did not indict him for document forgery or age falsification as claimed in some online reports.
“I didn’t falsified document. I didn’t falsified my age,” Okiemute said while responding to the allegations.
He further explained that the issue raised in court was related to the age requirement for the position at the time the election was conducted.
“The court only says I was not up to 45 years as at the time of the election,” he stated.
Okiemute also noted that the court’s judgment did not direct that the claimant in the suit should assume leadership of the community.
“The court didn’t direct me to hand over to anybody,” he said, adding that he was satisfied with the court’s decision.
Meanwhile, reports circulating on social media had claimed that the Delta State High Court sitting in Otu-Jeremi sacked Okiemute for allegedly forging documents and falsifying his age to become President-General. However, the embattled PG insisted the claims were false, even as reports indicated that some indigenes of Okpare-Olomu community celebrated the judgment restraining him from parading himself as President-General.
