Delta APC applauds peaceful ward congresses, felicitates newly elected executives

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has congratulated newly elected Ward Executive Committee members, party leaders, stakeholders and supporters, following what it described as the peaceful and successful conduct of ward congresses across the state’s 270 wards.

In a statement dated February 18, 2026, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq, the party said the exercise was orderly and free from the rancour, acrimony and violence often linked with political contests. It added that the smooth process signals growing unity, political maturity and a shared resolve to deepen the party’s grassroots structure.

According to the statement, the success of the congresses stemmed largely from a stakeholders’ meeting held on January 23, where party leaders adopted consensus arrangements in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines.

The party explained that the agreement encouraged inclusivity, harmony and collective ownership of the process, describing the decision as timely and in the overall interest of the APC in Delta State.

The Delta APC also acknowledged the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that his alignment with the party has reinforced unity and strengthened internal cohesion.

It stated that the governor has shown commitment to reconciliation and stability within the fold, achieving what it described as “a 95 percent integration” of diverse interests within the Delta APC family in record time.

The statement further observed that the calm and hitch-free outcome of the ward congresses justifies the deliberate efforts of party leaders to prioritise consensus and unity over divisive tendencies.

The party urged the newly elected ward executives to leverage their positions to build a formidable grassroots base anchored on transparency, fairness and inclusiveness, stressing that the wards remain the bedrock of the party’s strength.

Commending members for their patience, discipline and confidence in the leadership, the APC reaffirmed that the party in Delta State remains united and focused on delivering purposeful leadership, while calling on members to sustain the spirit of cooperation as preparations begin for the next phases of the congresses.
