PSC, Nigeria Police extend recruitment deadline amid uneven state participation
The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have extended the recruitment deadline for 50,000 constables by two weeks, following revelations of stark disparities in application numbers across the country.
Mr. Torty Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs at PSC, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
Originally set to close on January 26, the application portal opened on December 15, 2025 and will remain active until February 8, 2026.
According to Kalu, the extension came after PSC reviewed over 400,000 applications and discovered significant imbalances in state participation.
“While some states like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna have high application numbers, states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra have notably lower submissions,” Kalu said.
He added that the move is aimed at ensuring equitable representation nationwide, emphasizing that all eligible Nigerians, particularly from underrepresented states, are encouraged to apply via the official portal: [www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng](http://www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng).
Kalu further called on state governments, local councils, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilize and sensitize citizens to seize the extended window.
The PSC spokesman reaffirmed the commission’s commitment, stressing that both PSC and the Nigeria Police Force are determined to conduct a fair and transparent recruitment process.
