Omo-Agege’s surprise appearance at Delta APC Stakeholders’ Meeting signals major unity shift — Oghenesivbe
The appearance of Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the 2nd Delta APC Stakeholders’ meeting has been described as a defining turning point for unity and progress within the party, marking what observers call a new chapter in Delta State politics.
The meeting, held on January 23, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, drew heightened excitement as party leaders and stakeholders welcomed the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, whose arrival immediately became the focal point of the gathering.
His presence followed months of political speculation over his silence after Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Delta State defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in April 2025.
Many observers had interpreted Senator Omo-Agege’s silence as uncertainty about the new political alignment. However, early signs of reconciliation had surfaced at a marriage ceremony in Delta State, where he publicly acknowledged Governor Oborevwori as the leader of the APC in the state and a gesture widely described as symbolic and reassuring.
The reconciliation was seen as fully cemented at the stakeholders’ meeting when Senator Omo-Agege took the microphone and declared his readiness to work with Governor Oborevwori to advance the development of Delta State. His statement drew loud applause, signalling broad acceptance and renewed confidence within party ranks.
Reacting to the development, the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, congratulated the Delta APC family on what he described as a historic reunion between two of the state’s most influential political figures.
According to Oghenesivbe, the decision by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to close ranks demonstrates political maturity, statesmanship, and a shared commitment to Delta State’s progress above personal or partisan differences. He noted that the reunion reinforces a key political principle that there are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests, stressing that unity within the APC is vital for delivering good governance and sustainable development.
Oghenesivbe expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would strengthen the APC’s internal cohesion and better position the party to drive policies and programmes that benefit all Deltans. He commended party leaders and stakeholders for embracing reconciliation and urged members of the Delta APC to remain united in support of Governor Oborevwori’s administration and the collective vision for a more prosperous Delta State.
