In a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery within the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the first Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of AIG Nkechi Eze as the pioneer Director of the Force Medical Services Directorate, following the recent elevation of the Police Medical Section to a full-fledged directorate.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who said the appointment is part of the IG’s broader effort to enhance the welfare and healthcare of police personnel nationwide.
According to Hundeyin, the creation of the new directorate is a strategic step toward providing comprehensive, efficient, and modern healthcare services for police officers and their families across the country.
“AIG Eze is a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator who brings over 27 years of exemplary service to her new role,” the statement said.
“Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and hailing from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, AIG Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.”
Eze’s career, the statement added, spans several police formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she has made significant contributions to advancing police medical services and officers’ welfare.
While congratulating her on the appointment, the Inspector-General urged Eze to bring her professional expertise and leadership experience to bear in transforming the new directorate into a model of excellence in police healthcare delivery.
Egbetokun described the establishment of the Directorate of Force Medical Services as “a strategic investment in the well-being and productivity of police personnel,” noting that a healthy workforce is critical to the operational effectiveness of the Force.
