President Tinubu changes service chiefs
President Bola Tinubu has approved major changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to bolster the nation’s security architecture.
In the new appointments announced on Friday, General Olufemi Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff. Major-General W. Shaibu has been named the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes office as the Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas takes over as the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position in the new structure.
According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, President Tinubu expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa, and other service chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.
The President charged the newly appointed military leaders to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating professionalism, vigilance, and unity in safeguarding the nation.
“All appointments take immediate effect,” the statement added.
