Delta Government postpones Ugbolu–Okpanam road groundbreaking over heavy rain
The Delta State Government has postponed the much anticipated groundbreaking ceremony for the 12-kilometre Ugbolu–Okpanam Road project in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, announced the postponement in a statement on Tuesday morning, citing the torrential rainfall that drenched the area.
Aniagwu said the downpour made it impossible to proceed with the event as planned, adding that a new date for the ceremony would be communicated soon.
He expressed the regrets of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who was expected to lead the groundbreaking to all invited guests and stakeholders affected by the change.
According to the commissioner, the Governor remains fully committed to improving infrastructure and raising the living standards of Deltans through the MORE Agenda, which focuses on meaningful development across the state.
“The State Government regrets any inconvenience caused by the postponement and assures residents that work on the Ugbolu–Okpanam Road project remains a top priority,” Aniagwu added.
