Delcom 2025: Gov Oborevwori to Declare 6th Edition Open October 6
Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will on Monday, October 6, officially declare open the 6th edition of the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop (DELCOM 2025) in Asaba, the state capital.
A statement issued on Saturday by the State Coordinator of DELCOM and Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Barrister (Dr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, confirmed that Governor Oborevwori will deliver a keynote address that aligns with the workshop’s theme, “Strategic Communication in the Digital Age: Leveraging on Artificial Intelligence for Effective Leadership.”
According to Dr. Oghenesivbe, DELCOM 2025, held in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), is aimed at equipping media appointees, social media influencers, professional bloggers, and media partners with the skills required to effectively project the policies, programmes, and achievements of Governor Oborevwori’s administration through modern digital tools.
He further disclosed that the President of CIISM, Ambassador Dr. (Mrs.) Temile Uduogho Oritseweyinmi, will on Day 3 of the workshop induct selected participants as members and fellows of the Institute. Certificates of participation, duly signed by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, will also be presented to trainers and all participants of DELCOM 2025.
The Chief Trainer for the 6th edition is Professor Joyce Ogwezi, a seasoned communication scholar and Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba. She will be assisted by Professor Presley Obukoadata of Delta State University, Abraka, and Artificial Intelligence/ICT expert, Dr. Monday Ashibogwu, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
“His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, will declare the 6th edition of DELCOM open on Monday, 6th October, at Hotel Benizia, Asaba. Invited guests and senior government officials are expected to be seated on or before 9:45 a.m. prompt.
“DELCOM 2025 is partnering with the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM). The Institute’s Council Chairman and President, Ambassador (Dr.) Mrs. Temile Uduogho Oritseweyinmi, will be assisted by the Council Secretary and CIISM Registrar, Dr. Adelanke Oyintoke, to induct new members and fellows of the Institute.
“The workshop would highlight the importance of strategic communication in governance, enhance effective media engagements through artificial intelligence and digital tools, and provide techniques to promote government policies and programmes in line with the Renewed Hope for MORE Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State,” the statement added.
Among the dignitaries and senior government officials expected to attend and deliver goodwill messages at DELCOM 2025 are the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Elder Omeni Sobotie; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu; Delta State Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Prince Johnson Erijo; Chief Adviser to the Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ighoyota Amori; construction giant, Chief John Oguma; and the State Director of Protocols, Chief Sunday Onoriode, among others.
