Edo NSCDC commandant, Gbenga Agun slumps and dies at public event
Benin City was thrown into shock on Thursday after the Edo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gbenga Agun, suddenly slumped and died while attending a public function.
Agun had just finished delivering a goodwill message at a programme organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, when he collapsed in full view of dignitaries and guests.
Eyewitnesses say frantic efforts were made to revive him on the spot, but they proved unsuccessful. He was quickly rushed to the Military Base Hospital in Benin, where doctors confirmed him dead.
Ironically, the late commandant was one of the distinguished personalities billed to be honoured with an award at the same event.
