Keyamo Condemns Leak of Indecent Passenger Video, Orders Probe and Sanctions

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has condemned the unauthorized release of a video showing a female passenger in a state of undress during an altercation aboard an Ibom Air flight, calling it “totally unacceptable” In a strongly worded statement issued Tuesday,

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development expressed outrage over the viral footage of Comfort Emmanson, who was involved in a disruptive incident on a local flight. Keyamo directed that the staff member responsible for the leak be identified and sanctioned immediately.

“While it is permissible to film unruly behavior for use as legal evidence, releasing footage containing indecent exposure especially to mock or ridicule a passenger is both unethical and deplorable,” Keyamo noted

Following the incident, Emmanson was banned indefinitely from all domestic and international flights by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). She was arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on criminal charges and remanded to Kirikiri Correctional Facility after failing to meet her bail conditions.

The Minister acknowledged that the confrontation stemmed from Emmanson’s “uncooperative attitude” but emphasized that aviation staff must be better trained in conflict de-escalation and public relations.

To prevent similar occurrences, Keyamo announced a joint security meeting scheduled for next week involving all relevant aviation agencies. The goal, he said, is to improve coordination in handling unruly passengers while maintaining respect for human dignity.

“For genuinely aggrieved passengers, there are clearly laid-down complaint procedures through the NCAA’s Consumer Protection Directorate. Taking the law into one’s hands could lead to serious consequences,” Keyamo warned.

Meanwhile, prominent aviation stakeholders including Ighrakpata and Oboro have pledged support for Keyamo’s leadership as the sector continues to address emerging challenges.
