President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service. The appointment takes effect on August 14, 2025.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), signed by its Secretary, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.). Olumode succeeds Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who retires on August 13 after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

With a career spanning decades in fire and emergency services, Olumode currently oversees Human Resources at the Fire Service headquarters. He began his journey with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the national command, where he steadily rose through the ranks.

The Board highlighted Olumode’s completion of all required command and specialized training programs, both in Nigeria and abroad. He also holds memberships in several respected professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management.

Known for his deep institutional knowledge and strategic leadership, Olumode is expected to steer the federal fire service into a new era of reform and capacity building.
