Take steps to stop oil theft in N'Delta, Right Activist,Ozobo urges Security Agencies, say environment affected

A Niger Delta Human Right Activist, Comrade Austin Ozobo today urged Security agencies to take steps aimed at stopping the menace of oil theft in the Niger Delta region drastically. 

Comrade Ozobo made the call at the 4th anniversary of Congress Newspaper in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

Comrade Ozobo who is also the Chief Executive Officer/Publisher, Congress Newspaper said theft has polluted the environment.

He said the people of the region should stop the continuation of the pollution with their oil stealing, pipeline vandalism and other criminal activities for their personal gains. 

He added that oil theft will or has adversely affected the aquatic lives and many others in the region. 

While noting that the Ijaws who are mainly from riverine communities survive by fishing, Comrade Ozobo said,"When you people pollute the environment, waterways the waterways, it affects our fathers, our mothers and ourselves because we feed from our parents."

Comrade Ozobo said the Security agencies and their personnel should deal with the issue squarely and drastically reduce oil theft to its barest minimum. 

Comrade Ozobo also commended TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Limited for for protecting critical oil facilities in the Niger Delta region and the Country at large. 

According to him,"I want to use this medium to thank TANTITA for doing their best not only for providing security for themselves, but also providing humanitarian services to the entire Niger Delta region at large."
