Delta Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda Deploy Tactical Teams to Abraka Following Rise in Violent Crimes
In response to escalating incidents of violent crime in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the immediate deployment of fully equipped tactical teams to restore peace and public confidence.
The move follows growing concerns from residents and a surge of alarming reports circulating online and on social media, detailing the deteriorating security situation in the area.
Acknowledging the public’s anxiety, CP Abaniwonda emphasized that the Command is taking proactive and decisive measures to address the situation. To this end, he has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Aina Adesola, to oversee the deployment of security personnel and ensure coordinated field operations.
The tactical units dispatched to Abraka include:
* Dragon Patrol
* Safer Highway Patrol
* Rapid Response Squad (RRS)
* State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU)
These operatives have been mandated to carry out round-the-clock patrols, intelligence-led surveillance, and the establishment of strategic checkpoints. Their primary objective is to apprehend suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminal elements terrorizing the community.
CP Abaniwonda reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all residents across Delta State. He urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could incite panic, and instead encouraged the use of official communication channels to report suspicious activities.
