I can no longer earn a living by sewing due to my fractured leg, 24-year-old Delta Tailor, Valentine cries out

A 24-year-old Tailor, Valentine Adomi said, she can no longer put food on her table by sewing which was her occupation due to her fractured leg that the unfortunate incident of Oteri Women's protest against Police' extortion in Ughelli South Local Government Area, a month ago, put her.

According to her, she has been into  the business of sewing clothes and dresses for a living before the unfortunate incident saying, at  present,she doesn't  have anyone to support her financially.

Valentine who was wounded by Police' bullets on her way to purchase tailoring materials during the Oteri Women's protest in Ughelli, said she needs financial assistance to get back on her feet as this(sewing) is the work she depends on for survival over the years.

A woman who used to be a vibrant Tailor narrated her ordeal to  PebNews Correspondent of what happened on that fateful day she got injured. She said:" While the women were protesting, I was on my way to buy materials needed for sewing, just after the Government College close to the Health Centre, l felt something hit my leg while on top of a bike just as the Police were  throwing tear gas at harmless women protesting.

"Immediately, I fell down, and made  attempts to stand and run and l fell  again. I was rushed to the emergency ward in Ughelli Hospital where, the Chairman of Oteri Community paid for my treatment. At  the hospital,  it was diagnosed that my bone was broken. 

"Since then, l started paying for my treatment before l was discharged home. I spent a week at the hospital. In the follow-up process, l  go to the hospital twice a week for Doctor to  dress  the wound. As you can see(points), l have a cast on my leg. In two weeks or a month  from now, Doctor said, I should come for an x- ray to check if the bones  have  joined, and if not, he will take me to the  theatre. Now, l can't walk and do my daily shores  like sewing"

Valentine therefore appealed to well meaning Nigerians, organizations and philanthropists to assist to  enable her undergo  the treatment so that she could stand on her and start her business of sewing again.
