Breaking- Oil theft: NUJ confer on Tompolo Internal Security Meritorious award in Delta

The national leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ today conferred the "Internal Security meritorious award" on Ex-freedom fighter, High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Alias Tompolo for his contributions to the security of Oil & Gas infrastructure in Nigeria especially for curtailing oil theft in the Niger Delta region, pipeline vandalism and other sharp practices associated with the exploration of crude oil and production as well as his contributions to the economic revenue base of the nation. 

NUJ national President, Dr. Chris Isiguzo presented the award to Tompolo in Oporoza Community, headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Dr. Isiguzo said, "The NUJ having properly profiles the activities of Chief Government Ekpemupolo, Alias Tompolo, the Union is impressed with his patriotic zeal to ensure that Nigeria works again."

According to Dr. Isiguzo, "the NUJ also acknowledges the prevailing peace in the Niger Delta for which he has played a pivotal role. For these significant contributions he has made towards the nation's growth and development, the NUJ has decided to honour him with one of its prestigious awards - The NUJ Meritorious Award."

While noting that security is the responsibility of all Nigerians, Dr. Isiguzo urged all to provide  information to security agencies with a view to curtailing same and bring development to the nation.

In his acceptance speech, Tompolo commended the leadership of the NUJ for the honour done him. 

High Chief McDonald Igbadiwei who spoke on behalf of Tompolo urged the Federal Government to rally round Tompolo and give him the needed support in securing the oil facilities as well as attract more revenue to the nation's confer with development. 

Present with Dr. Isiguzo were the Secretary, Shuaibu Usman Leman,Alhassan zyahaya Abdullahi, Deputy National President, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, Ex-Officio, Asiwaju Shola Adebayo, Dr. Bimbo Oyekunle, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, Chairman Delta State Council, Comrade Felix Ekwu, Vice Chairman, Delta State Council.
